Enigmatic Surrealism: The Art of Caroline Walsh-Waring
Caroline’s oil paintings emerge from a world where emotion meets imagination — a realm she calls Enigmatic Surrealism. Her work is not simply about visual aesthetics, but about stories, sensations, and the mysteries that stir within us all.
Inspired by moments in her life, fragments of memory, and the quiet beauty of nature, Caroline creates from the heart. Trees, flowers, skies, and plants often spark her creative fire — but it’s her mind’s eye that steers the brush. Each painting evolves organically, driven by an emotional current rather than a planned destination.
Why does she paint?
Because she must. Creativity is her joy, her therapy, her labor, and her freedom. “If you have the creativity bug,” she says, “not using it is like telling a bee not to gather pollen. It must — to make honey.” For Caroline, painting is her honey.
She paints in hopes of connecting — with those who feel what she feels, who see a part of themselves in her surreal worlds. If her images stretch your imagination and stir something deep inside you, then her art has done its job.
Step into her world. Explore Caroline’s oil paintings – and discover the enigmatic beauty within.

A New Chapter in Pathlow
In March 2024, Caroline and her husband moved from their home of 15 years to Pathlow, near Stratford-upon-Avon. Their children having spread their wings, the move was motivated by a desire for a more manageable house and a larger garden for their two dogs. This significant lifestyle shift has also allowed Caroline to create a purpose-built, light-filled studio. A long-awaited dream and a major step forward in her creative journey.
As a result, she is now embracing this new phase with enthusiasm. Looking forward to producing a fresh body of work that will add to her already eclectic and imaginative portfolio. Surrounded by new scenery and supported by a rejuvenated sense of purpose, Caroline is excited about what lies ahead.
Experience & Exhibitions
Professionally, Caroline brings a wealth of experience. As a member of the Visual Artists Association, she has exhibited her work extensively across both local and national platforms. Over the years, she has also played an important role behind the scenes, curating a wide variety of successful exhibitions — from intimate showcases to large-scale events. She is often called upon in an advisory capacity due to her deep knowledge and curatorial insight.
Since relocating, Caroline has become a member of Leamington Studio Artists, a well-respected and vibrant collective of over 480 creatives. Notably, her work has been selected for every one of their exhibitions in the past year. A distinction she finds both humbling and energizing, especially given the limited number of pieces accepted per show (around 80). This consistent recognition has affirmed her decision to integrate more deeply into Warwickshire’s dynamic art scene.
What’s Next
Looking ahead, Caroline is expanding her presence further, with exhibitions planned in collaboration with Stratford Art Society, The Association of Midland Artists, Adlib Gallery, Wimbledon and Art Surrey in 2026. These opportunities reflect her growing momentum and the evolving nature of her artistic practice.
With new surroundings, a dedicated creative space, and a flourishing network of fellow artists, Caroline’s move marks not just a change of address — but the beginning of an inspiring new era.
